ACUPUNCTURE FAQs

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a complex branch of ancient chinese medicine and Americas fast growing healthcare method. With acupuncture needles, or other means we stimulate acupoints along the course of the meridians. This balances the flow of chi and sets the stage for the body to repair itself and maintain its own health.

Are Acupuncture Needles sterile and safe?

Yes, in compliance with the law (strict safety procedures).

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people feel no pain, and some people will feel a little sensation as the needles are inserted.  After the acupuncture needle has been inserted, you may feel a slight heavy, tingly, or dull sensation. This is called the ‘Qi’ sensation and means that energy is moving  effectively. Our technique is gentle and we use very thin, virtually painless needles.

How long do treatments take?

Depending on the patient´s condition and the treatment plan, treatments can range between 30 and 50 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

Because each patients health problems and the response to treatments are unique the number and frequency of treatments vary. Typically, the recommendation is two to four treatments per week for eight to sixteen treatments, although some patients respond favorably after only one or tow treatments. In general, acute conditions require less treatment than chronic conditions.

How should I prepare for my visit?

  • Bring your patient form with you.
  • Wear clothes that can be comfortably rolled up at the elbow and knees.
  • Eat lightly 1-2 hours before your treatment.
  • If possible, schedule yourself to avoid stressful situations and to give yourself time to relax after the treatment.
